What to Look for in Bindings, Flex and Sizing

On a first Water Ski purchase the ski itself is not the only thing that counts. The interplay between bindings, flex pattern and size matters just as much. A binding that is too soft absorbs your input, one that is too stiff sends every chop straight into your knee.

Ski size depends on body weight and your boat's topspeed. As a rule of thumb, more weight and more speed need more surface, so a longer ski. Combo sets are usually more generous in their sizing range and therefore more forgiving.

If you also ride Wakeboard, you already know the principles of stance, flex and board length. A lot of that translates straight to a slalom setup, even though the geometry of skis follows a different logic.
